Faces of the Gulf (in the aftermath of the BP Horizon Spill)
I was hanging out in Miami shooting mainly location magazine and some editorial fashion stuff, when, out of the blue, I got a call from a familiar voice. Well, you know, that voice was familiar, even though we hadn't met. It was the G-Man, Guinotte Wise, an AD from the ad firm VML in St Louis. He was wondering if I might be interested in shooting the mugs of anyone effected by the recent horrific BP Oil Spill- "do the whole coast and go inland as far as they're effected." Sure, that sounds grand! It was a really superior "job" and he made a little video using my stills and the music of Garnet Rogers, the Canadian Folk singer, that raised $ moola for the gulf fishermen. I'm proud of two facts:
1) the G-Man is a cool friend now, and
2) I am happy, every time I hear the spill mentioned, I was able, in a tiny way, to help the gulf coast fishermen from Ft Myers Beach to almost the Texas line in Louisiana.
And as far as I went inland (100miles), I was still running in to people effected. That spill was a tragedy for many more than you or I can ever imagine.
