Goldfield
I was driving south, from Sun Valley to Vegas, and had just turned off the "loneliest hiway in America" when I ran through a town that looked to be almost deserted... Goldfield in 1911 had maybe 25,000 people thriving in it, including Virgil and Wyatt Earp. It hosted one of the biggest prize fights in America and served the township at the longest bar in the country- 100 feet long!- that took 80 bartenders to work. Now, there are perhaps 200 brave souls living here, it is rated #5 in "America's Most Haunted Towns" and I joined them for 3 months.
